PERFORMANCE
At every oil change (3,000 miles), it's a good idea to also check your fan belts, hoses and cooling systems, brakes, power steering, and manual or automatic transmissions. If you'd like, you may download the Basic Maintenance Checklist for more specific information.
- Check your fan belt for excessive looseness, cracks, and glazed or shiny rubber.
- Check the level of your cooling system.
- Change your coolant every two years.
- Check the hoses for leaks and excessive hardness or softness.
- Check your brake fluid. If the reservoir cover must be removed, either to check the fluid level or to add a small amount, be sure to clean the area before removing the reservoir cap to prevent dirt contamination. Also, be sure to open the reservoir only as long as it takes to check or add fluid, then close it again.
- Change your brake fluid every two years.
- Check your power steering system for fluid level, the pump fan belt, and system leaks.
- Check the level of the transmission fluid, according to the manufacturer-Dspecified procedure.
